What HPLC actually tells you
- · HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) measures purity by separating components and reading the proportion of the named peptide vs other compounds.
- · "99%+ HPLC purity" means the named peptide is at least 99% of the total peptide content of the sample.
- · It does NOT prove biological activity. A 99% pure dead peptide is still 99% pure.
- · It does NOT prove sterility. Sterility is a separate test.
- · It does NOT prove the labelled dose is correct. Dose is a separate analytical test.
- · Mass spectrometry (MS) is a sister test that identifies the molecule by mass; CoAs that include both HPLC and MS are stronger than HPLC alone.
