[0:00] What is the UK regulatory position on BPC-157?
[0:07] BPC-157 is not a controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and it is not generally regarded as falling within the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016.
[0:18] But it holds no UK marketing authorisation, which means it is not an approved medicine in the UK.
[0:25] Products marketed as BPC-157 are typically sold by retailers using "research use only, not for human consumption" wording. It cannot lawfully be supplied or bought for human use.
[0:33] The regulatory line is crossed the moment a seller or commentator makes a therapeutic claim. At that point the product may fall within UK medicines regulation as an unlicensed medicinal product, and regulators including the MHRA, along with UK advertising rules, may act.
