[0:08] Semax is a synthetic peptide. It is a short chain derived from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone, ACTH, with a sequence modification intended to slow its breakdown. It was developed in Russia and is often discussed alongside its sister compound, Selank.
[0:16] The published evidence base is largely preclinical, weighted toward rodent studies, and concentrated in a single regional research literature. Independent western replication is limited. There are no established UK randomised controlled trials.
[0:24] In the UK, Semax is not a controlled drug and holds no marketing authorisation as a medicine. The MHRA does not assess research chemicals. It is sold legally only as a research chemical, research use only, not for human consumption.
