[0:08] Survodutide is an investigational peptide being developed by Boehringer Ingelheim and Zealand Pharma. Like several compounds in this class it is structurally related to the incretin family, but it is not a licensed medicine.
[0:17] Its defining feature is the receptor profile. Survodutide is described in the literature as a dual agonist. It targets the GLP-1 receptor and the glucagon receptor. This differs from tirzepatide, which targets GLP-1 and GIP instead.
[0:25] The evidence base is early and mid phase clinical work. Phase 2 results have been published, including studies in liver disease, but survodutide has not completed phase 3 and holds no MHRA marketing authorisation.
