[0:17] Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It binds one incretin receptor, the GLP-1 receptor. It is licensed by the MHRA for type 2 diabetes and for chronic weight management within an NHS or private specialist framework.
[0:25] Tirzepatide is a dual agonist. It binds both the GLP-1 receptor and the GIP receptor. GIP is a second incretin hormone. Head to head phase 3 trial data, including the SURPASS programme, has been published comparing the two medications.
