[0:08] Tesamorelin is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone releasing hormone. It is a 44 amino acid peptide with a stabilising chemical modification that extends its activity compared with native GHRH.
[0:17] In the United States, Tesamorelin holds FDA approval under the brand Egrifta. Its licensed indication is the reduction of excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. That licence sits on multiple published phase 3 randomised controlled trials, which is unusual for a peptide in this category.
[0:25] In the United Kingdom, Tesamorelin has no MHRA marketing authorisation. It is not licensed as a medicine in Great Britain. It is sold lawfully only as a research chemical, research use only. A UK prescriber cannot prescribe a licensed Tesamorelin product because no licensed product exists here.
