Cosmetic peptide
Matrixyl 3000
Matrixyl 3000 is a branded cosmetic peptide blend developed by Sederma (a Croda subsidiary), combining palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7. It is marketed for collagen support and wrinkle reduction. Most published efficacy data is manufacturer-funded. In the UK it is regulated as a cosmetic ingredient, and serums citing "contains Matrixyl 3000" range from meaningfully formulated to vanity dosing. PeptideClear compares UK serums by INCI position and percentage where disclosed.
How to read a Matrixyl claim
- · Sederma recommends 3 to 8% of the trade ingredient for a meaningful effect. That is not 3 to 8% peptide. The trade ingredient itself is mostly carrier solvent (glycerin, water).
- · Net peptide concentration in a 5% Matrixyl 3000 product is around 0.05 to 0.1% of the actual peptides. Comparable to GHK-Cu serum concentrations.
- · "Contains Matrixyl" without a percentage and with the named peptide low in the INCI list is usually trace.
- · UK serums where Matrixyl 3000 sits in the top 5 INCI ingredients are the ones doing the work.
